Who is Jodi Murphy

Jodi Murphy is the founder and president of Murco Recycling Enterprises Inc.

Over 20 years ago, Jodi was just an ambitious home rehabber with a maxed-out mortgage looking for ways to cut costs and renovate her home that included orange shag carpet and faux brick laminate. Clearly having much more energy than cash, Jodi posed the question: how can you renovate your home despite having no money with which to do it?

Driving past a house about to be demolished in landlocked Hinsdale, IL the solution started to emerge. Why not see if there’s anything reusable in the house about to be demolished that she could incorporate in her own home? Why not parcel out as much as possible to others as well before the materials are lost to the landfill? Jodi quickly realized that there were many people out there just like her who were hungry for affordable, quality materials and who were eager to do their part in reducing the environmental impact of demolitions in their communities. Thus began Murco Recycling Enterprises Inc.

Jodi didn't originally start Murco to save the world-- she did it to save her world. But what began as a way to help herself and her three daughters, Megan, Allison, and Madelyn, evolved into an advocacy, passion and profession that has benefited thousands of customers, clients, and, most importantly, Mother Nature.

"One world, One Chance, Be Gentle" is the Murco Credo—Jodi believes it, lives it, and invites others to do the same.
